Andrew Cormier

Whether it’s been navigating the challenges on a ski patrol team or steadily moving up in his 32-year-long career in the mining industry, Andrew Cormier has always loved rising to a challenge.
While he originally wanted to be an architect – he even reproduced the plans for his childhood home by hand in high school – he quickly learned that if he pursued studies in Metallurgy, he’d not only have the chance to combine his love for chemistry and physics, he’d also be able to get a summer job at the town mine.

Silvana Costa

People and community have always been important to Silvana. While she loved her close-knit family and friends in Brazil, she always dreamt of studying abroad and immersing herself in other cultures.
After completing her undergraduate degree in architecture, Silvana knew the solitary nature of that profession didn’t exactly align with her extroverted personality. So, acting on her childhood dream, Silvana came to Canada for her graduate studies. At the University of Calgary, she earned her Master’s in Environmental Design and Planning, with an eye towards working in community planning.
